This Year's Artworks

Artists in almost all media (no music, at least so far*) have responded to the challenge of ArtBra.

Sisters: Three paintings of nude women, covered in full-length veils, open down the front. The center one is standing, and the two on the sides are seated. All appear calm, even contemplative. The standing figure is done in predominately cool colors, contrasting with the warm tones of the seated ones.

 White & pink tutu scarf: It‘s almost a knit boa. Alternating sections of white, light pink, and vivid pink, each of which is an open-knit lacy disk. It has the appearance of a multitude of miniature tutus fastened together at their waists.

The upper part of the spire has sides delicately carved with naturalistic curved elements, cloistered by the straight corners tapering upward among them. In the background are three or four skyscrapers whose rigidly rectilinear elements reflect how much is missing from modern architecture

 One of St. Michael's wings is extended across the lower part of the image, with the upper parts of the cathedral filling the rest. Everything you see it man-made.

 A sheer wrap: Fine silver-grey netting sequined in silver with stylized flowers and meandering strands of widely-space sequins. The long sides have a two rows of sequins with a branching pattern between, and the ends have long fringes.

A long-sleeved lilac cardigan with long front corners for tying. It has shimmering metallic silver sequins sewn throughout.

 A detailed quilt whose central area is alternating squares of garden-club ladies, hats and all, and garden produce (veggies and flowers). It has three successive borders, in peach, yellow, and light blue (with ladybugs on the yellow). The reverse is a large orange rectangle, bordered in the yellow with ladybugs, and the light blue edge containing the artist's signature and date.

 Four items to be auctioned individually: 1) A necklace of pink and white cabochon stones with steel blue and clear beads between; 2) A bracelet with large red beads and larger sage and variegated stones, with irregular white disks and faceted beads between; 3) A bracelet of small pieces of rose quartz in many shapes; and 4) A bracelet of white cylinders with flowers and foliage wrapping around them, separated by simulated pearls and small beads of transparent green and clear/gold.
