A Call For Submissions
ArtBra New Haven will hold its fourth auction of art bras and fine art pieces inspired by, and which speak to, the experience of breast cancer.
Submissions will be adjudicated. They may be either wearable or non-wearable artwork. Pieces can be based on ready-made bras, or be completely fabricated. Works can be an expression of your own experience, in support of someone, in honor of a survivor, or in memoriam. They can be serious or lighthearted. We are looking for works in any medium or mixture. We ask that each artist include a brief statement about their piece and its inspiration. All pieces must be sturdy enough to wear and embellishments must be well secured.
Twenty pieces of the accepted wearable art will be auctioned in a live, modeled runway show. Other works will be set up and sold in the silent-auction gallery. Wearable pieces should be no smaller than approximately size 38C, but can be intended for more ample figures. They can be bras, long-lines, or full bodices. (Don’t neglect back interest. Think sculpturally.) Camisoles, hats, wigs, and/or headpieces are also encouraged, as well as special T-shirts and hats for gentlemen survivors.
Pieces submitted will be featured on our web site and in print materials. We want contributing artists to have the maximum publicity possible to thank them for their help.
Please feel free to e-mail us at artbranewhaven@yahoo.com. Thank you for your interest and participation in this celebratory event.
